Education for Grown-ups
Adult person is a person who is already 21 or older. So, adult education is process of teaching grown-ups. The difference between teaching children and grown-ups is really big and significant. The explanation is rather clear – children’s main goal is to grow up and study, they don’t have other main tasks, but adult people have already grown up, they have a job and their main goal is to earn for living, so education for then is not if first importance in comparison with their jobs.
In the system of adult education, grown-ups are divides into illiterate and partially literate. Such division helps to arrange educative process in right direction; especially it is important for arithmetic.
One of the ideas of adult education is idea that person can’t be completely happy if he or she is not educated.
First schools for adults appeared in England, Those were Sunday schools at the beginning, but in time such schools begat to work every day.
In Pakistan first adult schools were opened in Karachi as a form of social service. Those schools were night schools. When the number of pupils began to increase, the number of schools also began to increase. In general, it was free and one of the main goals was to get the recognition from the country and government. And government realized the usefulness of this activity.
And we can be proud that nowadays more and more new adult education schools and centers appear all over the world.
